The brief, vision and sporting profile of the owners
As in all Destsetters projects, in Alkima Athens, the driving force for creating a successful concept came from the owner and his vision to create something unique and successful. With the building already at their disposal, the owners of the new accommodation, Margarita and Kostas , turned to Destsetters in order to resolve a series of questions regarding their new investment , but also to determine the concept that would follow the under construction accommodation, so as to stand out from the fierce competition of the city.
Coming from the field of fitness, both wanted to create a space where the traveler would primarily feel comfortable and familiar , while the main goal was to enable the accommodation to have a distinct character as well as a unique experience. The building, with limited reception space, a small number of rooms and a usable roof, was by definition a major challenge, particularly because had to compete with the constantly growing hotels of Athens but also with the more organized Airbnb buildings of the wider area.
The determination of the accommodation typology, with the aim of developing competitive advantages
Starting from the technical challenges of the project, Destsetters' first point of reference was to define the function of the spaces as well as the typology , so as to define the overall perspectives. Thus, in collaboration with the owners, it was decided:

Now having the completed brief of the concept of the accommodation, the first step was the architectural design, which was carried out by the architectural office of Maria Kavaia and defined the functionality of the spaces as well as the new logic of the renovated building. Relying on the high functionality and the correct foundation laid by the architectural office, the concept was transformed with the decisive role of Interior Design & Decoration in collaboration with Mary Sfyrakis, creative director of ATN Constructions . integrating all the necessary elements of the concept into the hotel experience, such as:
Elements that refer to sports , such as the floor that simulates athletics tartan
Materials and textures that have references to Ancient Athens but also the spirit of sport
Colors based on the colorful mood of the concept brief and choice of materiality of the accommodation
Details in the decoration, such as light fixtures reminiscent of gymnastic rings
Thus, with the combination of a dynamic Architecture and Interior team and the faithful adherence to the concept by the owner , a truly unique accommodation was created which by definition is a recognizable proposition for the traveling public of Athens.
The branding and imprinting of the 'Alkima' experience
The name, which comes from the word ' alkimos' which means robust, strong and also the related word 'alki' which means strength and power , communicates the concept of the accommodation from the beginning, while the graphic design of the logo and the symbols from the creative office of Maria - Olga Vlachou , or otherwise Postfolk Design , reflects the dynamics of his overall philosophy at first sight. The presentation of the new brand was completed with the collaboration of the photographer Giorgos Zondi , who captured both the spaces and the experiences of the accommodation, and The Hotel Content Company , who developed the content, creating all the necessary ingredients for this new brand.
